Nails did.

So I don't know about all you ladies, but when I went to the nail shop earlier this week, I was wondering what the difference was between acrylic, gel & silk nails. I've never had fake nails before nor am I trying to. I heard once you start, it gets addicting and post-fake nails are verrry, ridiculously thin. Via beautyschooldropout:

"acrylic is that powder they mix with liquid and put it on your nails. it hardens and turns a clearish white. gel nails are a different material and don't feel as hard. i think they are better for your actual nail. silk if i remember from beauty school is just a little sheet of silk they put on your nails and then paint over with glue so it stays. it is supposed to strengthen your nail and is also used to repair breaks and cracks."

and there you go. I'm on the hunt for a nail shop that's similar to Valley in NYC. Or maybe I should just make a quick trip over there. One of my faavs, via Valley:
